New girl in SASIC? Who is she? Where is she from? What
she did? Want to know more? Sumayyah Abdul Aziz will bring
to you this live information from her house.
Q: Good evening Miss Taylor. Thanks for sparing your
time for this interview. As you know Im here to
interview you for our schools annual magazine,
RESTU 2001. Okay, before I start anything serious, may
I know your background? Your family?
A: Youre welcome. My name is Emily Rebecca Taylor.
I was born on(
) in a(
). I have a brother
Eddie who is 17 years old. My father is a fine-arts
teacher.
Q: What brings you to Malaysia?
A: After finishing my secondary school, I decided that
I want to take break from my study in order to do something
more exciting. There were only a few voluntary work
programs that can send undergraduates overseas to work.
I choose Program GAP Activities. There are various jobs
offered and I thought teaching suits me best so I choose
to be a teacher.
Q: Out of many countries, why did you choose Malaysia?
A: Actually, it is very hard to choose where to go
as the brochure they gave us only give you a thing bit
of information about each country. In the end I choose
Malaysia because of its diversity in culture, races,
languages, and landscape and because it is so different
from my home. I want to learn about a completely different
way of life.
Q: What was your first impression when you arrived
to Malaysia?
A: I was so excited. From the plane, I could see what
a beautiful country Malaysia is. Even though the weather
was so hot but everything was so fascinating to me.
I couldnt believe this was Malaysia when I stepped
down from the plane.
Q: Before you arrived at SASIC, what did you expect?
A: I expected that everyone would be feeling strange
and weird because Id be the first English woman
to come here and also Id be teaching non-English
speaking students.
Q: What do you think about SASIC when you arrived here?
